Event: Haitian Art Exhibit

Date: July 24 – July 28 Place: Doric Hall, Mass. State House

Kick-Off: July 24th, 1pm – 4pm, Nurses Hall, Mass. State House

The Haitian Art Exhibit is a weeklong event featuring artwork depicting the Haitian culture and history, where more than 40 art pieces will be exhibited at Doric Hall at the Massachusetts State House beginning July 24.

The opening ceremony will be held at the Nurses Hall and will include community recognition awards and citations.

The Haitian American Art Society is a private, non-profit community outreach project that promotes community development through art and science.

The exhibit is designed to celebrate and promote the rich Haitian culture and history using art and science as catalyst to unify our community through creativity, imagination and participation.

Founded in 2002, the annual Haitian art exhibit was started by a group of artists and local residents who sought an alternative to traditional community festivity. Since then the celebration has grown from a small arts event to a major art exhibit with related year-round community activities.

The Haitian Art Exhibit serves as a showcase for the Massachusetts Haitians’ cultural and artistic communities featuring both local and internationally recognized artists.

The Haitian Art Exhibit attracts more than 10,000 visitors. This unique idea, which started in Boston a few years ago, has served as a model for other US cities where there are large Haitian populations. The Haitian Art Exhibit has truly become a cherished Haitian tradition in Boston.

The Haitian Art Exhibit will take place at the Doric Hall at the State House from July 24 to July 28.

This is a very special event that brings business leaders, families and friends together to celebrate Haitian culture and tradition.

The exhibit will be kicked off by a ceremony on July 24th at the Nurses Hall at the State House to recognize outstanding members of the Haitian community.

Why support the Haitian Art Exhibit?

1.) This is a great opportunity to promote your products and services. This is one of the few statewide celebrations that are both traditions and symbols of the Haitian community.

2.) The Haitian Art Exhibit and Community Recognition Awards bring the community together in celebration. It also engages and expresses the Haitian community’s creativity and beliefs.

3.) The Haitian Art Exhibit supports local artists by creating opportunities to exhibit their art pieces. The collaboration, creativity and community spirit unleashed every year are integral parts of what makes the Haitian Art exhibit innovative and bright, as the event becomes a Haitian tradition.

The Haitian Art Exhibit needs your help! Make a gift today! The Haitian Art Exhibit has an operating budget of only $10,000, however, there is no source of income. Town Computer donates a portion of the costs associated with producing the event.

The Haitian Art Exhibit must rely in part on the contributions from individuals and advertisers. This year, our goal is to raise a total of $6,000 before July 1st.

Please make your donation today and help secure the future of this treasured Haitian tradition in the State House! Make checks payable to Town Computer’s Community Partnership Program and mail check to 24 Regis Road, Mattapan, MA 02126-1720. Donations must be received before July 1st in order to participate in the advertising packages.
